Updates, live features, and discounts
Hello SimFlyers,
This week’s summer news brings a mix of important updates, practical improvements, and a special offer.
Starting with missions: we’ve extended the maximum pre-takeoff time for the Airplane Rental mission from one hour to two. This change comes from feedback from large aircraft pilots who often need more time for complex pre-flight procedures. From now on, you’ll have 120 minutes from clicking “Start Flight” to take off, giving you more flexibility before the mission risks cancellation.
We’re finalizing an important realism update that will enforce each aircraft’s certified maximum range, replacing the logic previously in place.
All missions: if, during your flight, you exceed the aircraft’s maximum range (with a tolerance margin of about 20%, still to be defined), the mission will be automatically canceled with the message:
“ATTENTION! Your aircraft has a maximum range of XX NM, but you have flown XX NM. Fuel exhausted: mission canceled!”
Test Pilot and Unrestricted Flight: if you set a flight plan and the route exceeds the aircraft’s range, the mission cannot be started (feature already live). If you depart without a flight plan, the mission will still be allowed (unlike the Airplane Rental Mission), but the system will still monitor the nautical miles you are flying. If you exceed the aircraft’s range, the mission will be canceled.
This new logic for all missions is scheduled for release next week. Roberto explains it in more detail in the new video published on our channel.
Good news for Mac users: the SimFly client for macOS is close to a stable release. The latest fixes have resolved Landing Rate detection issues and improved compatibility; the changes are already active, and there’s no need to download a new version. We welcome your feedback on Landing Rate calculations, perhaps comparing them with other ACARS. Once feedback is gathered, the client will also be digitally signed for smoother installation directly from SimFly.
Discounts now active until Monday: 50% off all category 4 airports and 40% off all category 6 aircraft.
Finally, great news: we’ve started the first tests of the Marketplace Users feature and will keep you updated on development progress. In the video, in addition to technical insights, Roberto also answers the most upvoted questions from the AMA section. If you want to hear directly from the person who builds SimFly every day, now is the perfect time to watch it.
See you soon,
