SimFly Forum Flight Rules (Community Code of Conduct)
Version 1.0 — Effective February 2025
Preamble ✈️
Welcome aboard the SimFly Forum, where every pilot-in-command, first officer, and passenger shares the same virtual sky. These Flight Rules outline the standards that keep our airspace friendly, productive, and free of unnecessary turbulence. By posting here you accept these terms; failure to comply may lead to a rerouting, a holding pattern, or even a permanent grounding.
1 Pre-Flight Briefing: Mission & Scope
-
Stay on flight plan: Post only about SimFly, Microsoft Flight Simulator, partner add-ons, and community events.
-
File in the right hangar: Choose the correct category and add clear titles and tags. Mis-categorized topics may be redirected or archived.
-
No jump seats for unrelated cargo: Politics, religion, or personal disputes belong elsewhere.
2 Radio Etiquette: Tone & Language
-
Use standard phraseology: Clear, concise, and respectful sentences; no profanity, personal attacks, or mocking tone.
-
Maintain proper volume: Avoid ALL-CAPS shouting, inflammatory punctuation, or spammy repetition.
-
Stick to English unless you provide a translation: We are an international crew.
3 Crew Resource Management: Respect & Inclusion
-
Treat every simmer as crew, not cargo: Value different skill levels, hardware setups, and play styles.
-
Assume good intent: Clarify before criticizing.
-
Zero tolerance for harassment, hate speech, or discriminatory remarks: Violations result in immediate grounding.
4 Flight Plan Amendments: Constructive Feedback
-
Critique the aircraft, not the pilot: Focus on facts, data, and verifiable sources.
-
Provide performance charts, not rants: Offer numbers, links, or screenshots to support your view.
-
Avoid dogfights: If discussions stall, agree to disagree and disengage.
5 Turbulence Procedures: Conflict Resolution
-
Self-correct: Edit your post if you realize it may cause turbulence.
-
Private channel: Use direct messages to clear misunderstandings.
-
Contact ATC: Flag the post and let moderators intervene.
-
Holding pattern: Cool-down periods or silenced accounts give tempers time to descend.
6 Controlled Airspace: Moderator Authority
-
Moderators are Air Traffic Control: Their instructions keep the pattern safe.
-
ATC calls are final: Public disputes over moderation decisions may extend your holding time.
-
Appeals: Send a polite, fact-based message to
@moderatorsif you believe an error occurred.
7 Hazardous Cargo: Prohibited Content
-
Advertising unrelated products or services.
-
Referral, affiliate, or sponsorship links without prior clearance.
-
Piracy, copyright violations, or redistributing paid aircraft files.
-
Unofficial support requests for cracked software.
-
Doxxing or sharing private information.
8 Cabin Service: Images, Videos & Attachments
-
Compress images to 1920×1080 max unless higher resolution is essential.
-
Use descriptive filenames and captions.
-
Host large videos externally and embed responsibly.
-
Mark spoilers clearly and hide oversized logs or code in collapsible sections.
9 Runway Incursions: Disciplinary Ladder
| Infraction Level | Typical Action | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Minor (off topic, duplicate) | Friendly reminder | Topic may be moved or merged |
| Moderate (heated language, repeated off topic) | Formal warning, 24 h silence | Reinstatement after review |
| Major (personal attack, spam) | 3‒7 day suspension | Final warning upon return |
| Severe (hate speech, doxxing) | Permanent ban | No appeal |
10 Pre-Takeoff Checklist (Post Before You Push):
-
Is my post on topic for SimFly?
-
Did I search first?
-
Am I providing value (facts, experience, help)?
-
Is my tone respectful and concise?
-
Have I credited sources and hidden spoilers?
If you can tick all five boxes, you are cleared for takeoff.
Final Approach
SimFly thrives when every aviator feels welcome in the pattern. If you witness turbulence, flag it rather than replying in anger. When reminded of these Flight Rules, adjust your heading promptly. Together we can keep the virtual skies smooth, cooperative, and full of great flights.
Fly safe, keep the blue side up, and see you on the next leg!
